The Second Authority for Television and Radio regulates commercial broadcasting in Israel: Channel 2, Channel 10 and regional radio stations. In addition, the Second Authority transmits Israel’s free-to-air television channels: 1, 2, 10, 33 and 99, using a digital terrestrial network of transmitters that it planned and executed. This network is called Idan+ (IDAN being the Hebrew acronym for Arutzim Yisraelim Digitaliyim Negishim – Accessible Israeli Digital Channels). Idan+ enables the Israeli public to receive and view Israeli free-to-air channels for free and without paying a subscription fee. Besides these, sixteen local radio stations transmit their broadcasts using transmitter sites and frequencies that have been approved by the Ministry of Communications and the Second Authority.
